Hartfield Village Fete 2018
A warm welcome awaits you at the Hartfield Village Fete Horticultural & Dog Show when we invite you to enjoy a full afternoon’s entertainment. The Town Croft is a picturesque location situated in the lovely Sussex country village of Hartfield, home of Winnie the Pooh. Our fete grows in popularity each year and is now one of the most well attended events in the area.
Car parking is strictly controlled but free in the field adjacent to the Town Croft, however, we will once again be selling at £2 an informative fifty plus page programme which lists the timing of the day’s events as well as being a business directory packed with useful information. It also carries a lucky number cash prize. Families are encouraged to purchase this as local organisations benefit from the profits of the fete and there is a wealth of entertainment entirely free. Disabled facilities are available.
HORTICULTURAL & DOG SHOW
The spacious marquee will house a lovely array of flowers and produce together with crafts and photographic exhibits. Entry forms for all
categories are available in Hartfield Stores now. The popular dog show and famous “doggie dash” continue to attract many entries. The terrier races return this year and for the first time ever we introduce a new fun event “doggie hide & seek”.
Start with a refreshing drink from our well stocked bar and linger whilst you might meet and chat with friends. Feast on the succulent selection from the BBQ or perhaps choose a lighter meal of salad and quiches that will be available. As the afternoon wears on why not sit and relax whilst taking in the beautiful surroundings and tucking into a selection of scrumptious homemade teas and cakes.
FREE PROFESSIONAL CHILDREN’S ENTERTAINMENT
Crazy Hazee, Punch & Judy, Victorian fairground carousel rides for the little ones; children’s races & fun activities for the slightly older ones such as face painting, bouncy ship, space hoppers, beat the goalie and other quieter activities in one of the gazebos.
STALLS & SIDESHOWS
This year we have a record number of fifty commercial stalls all offering individual, attractive goods for sale. Local village groups will be running the ever-popular bottle tombola, plants, cakes, books, children’s toys, good clothing and bric-a-brac. Once again, we will have both traditional and new sideshows including Skittles, Coconut Shy, Gnome Hoopla, Splat the Rat, and the hilarious Human Fruit Machine.
Morris Dancers & Silver Swans Ballet perform for you whilst the pleasant strains of the Nigel Bagge Band “roots & blues with a touch of country,
soul and rock and roll” echo around the ground. Vintage vehicles will be on display.
